The short version
  • Often hailed as the best bagels in Vilnius, revived as a local Jewish bread tradition.
  • A tiny, atmospheric shop on Literatų Street with a cosy 'living room' feel.
  • Friendly, welcoming staff and a dog-friendly room.
  • A second location operates as a stall at Halės Market.

Vilnius's favourite bagels, back on Literatų

Beigelistai tucks into a corner of Literatų g. 7, one of the Old Town's prettiest little streets, and has become a small landmark for it. The bagel is a Jewish bread product with deep roots in this part of Europe, and Beigelistai brought it back to Vilnius — diners now routinely call these the best bagels in the city, served alongside good coffee, tasty teas and lemonades.

Just as beloved as the food is the atmosphere. The shop is very small and chill, with a warmth that regulars compare to sitting in a friend's living room — one guest put it as 'sitting at your friend's house plus having great food'. The staff are sweet and welcoming, and the room is dog-friendly, so feel free to bring your pet.

Good to know

The menu centres on bagel sandwiches with a range of fillings, plus rotating specials. Popular choices include the salmon bagel, mozzarella bagel, the burgerbeigel, a BLT bagel and a blueberry bagel, with prices in the affordable bracket. The classic cream-cheese-and-lox, topped with red onion and capers, is a long-running top seller.

The Literatų shop is genuinely tiny and popular, so be ready for a possible wait at peak times or grab your bagels to take away. There's a second Beigelistai as a stall in Halės Market, handy if the Old Town shop is full. Confirm current opening hours on the venue's own channels before visiting.
