What to expect
Halès Smokehouse occupies a stall near the main entrance of Halės Market, the historic covered market hall that has traded on Pylimo gatvė since 1906, at the western edge of the Old Town. It grew out of a Vilnius food-truck project and claims to have been the first to bring proper brisket to Lithuania. You can watch the open smokehouse at work, where pork, beef and chicken are cooked low and slow over oak for hours until tender — the aroma is half the appeal.
It's a casual, counter-style spot: seating is limited and informal, portions are generous, and the surrounding market hall supplies the atmosphere. Regulars rate the ribs and the Reuben-style pastrami sandwich (often a weekend special), while the house-recipe chorizo turns up on the menu and on the retail shelf. Gluten-free options are available on request, and the stall also sells vacuum-packed meats and sauces to take away.
