What to expect
Le Travi is a much-loved little trattoria in the artistic Užupis district, where diners often describe the experience as visiting a very hip Italian grandmother who happens to be a brilliant cook. The room is cosy and vibrant, the staff warm and attentive, and the whole place has a family-like, genuinely Italian feel. Pasta, bread and gnocchi are all made in-house, and many regulars rate the handmade pasta as the best they've had outside Italy. For the best seat in the house, perch at the bar and watch the open kitchen at work.
The menu is small and dynamic, changing often with seasonal ingredients — the day's dishes are chalked up on the wall. Favourites include ragù with pappardelle or tagliatelle, ravioli, gnocchi, carbonara, and house focaccia, all paired with a genuinely strong natural-wine list. A few diners note portions can run small for the price, but the quality is high and the place is consistently busy. Reservations are essential here and should ideally be made several days ahead, particularly for weekend evenings.
