The short version
  • A tiny dessert shop in a former Užupis pharmacy, full of charming, whimsical decor

  • A dedicated range of gluten-free, dairy-free and vegan desserts
  • Cakes sold by weight, so you can sample smaller pieces
  • The signature, highly photogenic pink latte

What to expect

Liu — also known as Patty Liu — is a small, much-loved dessert shop in the heart of Užupis, set inside a former pharmacy whose pharmaceutical past lingers in the quirky, whimsical decor. The atmosphere is consistently described as warm and friendly, making it a lovely stop for a coffee and a visually stunning treat as you wander the district. Everything is handmade, and cakes are sold by weight, so you can pick a smaller slice and sample more than one.

The counter is a colourful spread of cakes, cupcakes and individual pastries, alongside more unusual offerings like cakes in a jar and a few savoury snacks. There's a thoughtful, dedicated selection of vegan, gluten-free and dairy-free desserts, so dietary needs are well covered. The most Instagrammed item is the signature pink latte, often served in a playful test-tube nod to the building's history; the Black Velvet cake is another regular favourite. It's a small space, so it's best treated as a sweet pit stop rather than a long sit-down.
