Sakai Ramen
Widely called the best and most authentic ramen in Vilnius — a tiny, focused spot with rich house broth, homemade noodles and an open kitchen. Book ahead.

- ✓Regularly named the best, most authentic ramen in Vilnius — comparable to shops in Japan.
- ✓A deliberately tiny menu of just a few ramen, a sign of mastery rather than limitation.
- ✓Rich, slow-cooked broth and house-made noodles, plated in front of you at the open kitchen.
- ✓Small and very popular, so reservations are essential — walk-ins rarely get a table.
A focused ramen bar with a cult following
Sakai Ramen has built a reputation as the go-to bowl in the city, with diners regularly calling it the best and most authentic ramen in Vilnius. The kitchen keeps the menu deliberately small — around three ramen — and leans into doing a few things exceptionally well: a deep, flavourful broth and noodles made in house. The room is cosy, the service friendly and fast, and an open kitchen lets you watch the chefs build each bowl.
Regulars point to the Garlic Tonkotsu and Miso Tonkotsu pork-bone ramen, with a well-regarded vegetarian and vegan option for plant-based diners. Kombucha is a popular non-alcoholic pour, and cheesecake turns up often as dessert. A few find it on the pricier side for Vilnius, but the consensus is that it is a must-visit.
Good to know
The restaurant has relocated to J. Basanavičiaus g. 3, just off the southern edge of the Old Town in Naujamiestis. Because the space is small and demand is high, booking a table in advance is the safe move — spontaneous walk-ins are rarely lucky.
- Best for
- an authentic ramen fix; book ahead, as the room is tiny.
- Menu is small by design — three ramen plus a vegan option, kombucha and cheesecake.
- Confirm current opening hours with the venue before you go.
