The short version
  • Authentic Neapolitan pizza, widely praised as among the best in Vilnius.
  • Made with high-quality ingredients and a properly executed crust by a friendly Italian team.
  • A vibrant, cosy room with a true pizzeria atmosphere; pet-friendly, and pizzas can be tailored for allergies.
  • Prices sit on the higher side, but regulars agree the quality earns it.

The lowdown

Zio Rigo is a small Neapolitan pizzeria that has built a devoted following on one thing done very well: pizza. The dough is the Naples-style sort — soft and pillowy at the edge, blistered and chewy — and the toppings lean on good Italian ingredients. The team is Italian and the welcome is warm, which gives the place the lively, slightly cramped energy of a real neighbourhood pizzeria rather than a chain.

The menu is focused. House specialities include the namesake Zio Rigo with anchovies, a Mortadella (Mortazza) pie, an Nduja-and-burrata combination of spicy spread and creamy cheese, and a classic prosciutto e funghi; tiramisù is the dessert people remember. Pizzas can be customised for allergies or preferences, so it's worth asking.

It's a dine-in spot at heart — the atmosphere is half the point — but it's often busy, so a reservation is sensible. As is common in casual Italian places, you typically order and pay at the bar. Find it on Šatrijos gatvė in the Žirmūnai district, north of the centre across the river, an easy trip if you're craving something properly Italian.
