A one-chef Spanish bistro at a slow, personal pace

La Pepa transports you to Spain through authentic cooking and a cosy, home-like room at Dainavos g. 6, just south of the Old Town. Its whole character flows from chef-owner Pedro, whose passion shows in every dish — from carefully chosen fresh ingredients to the standout homemade bread. Guests routinely say it feels less like a restaurant and more like dinner in a friend's home.

Because Pedro often runs the entire place himself — cooking, serving and clearing — the experience is intimate and unhurried by design. This is a slow, relaxed meal to settle into rather than a quick bite, which makes it a lovely intimate choice for couples or a small group. The flip side is that you should not be in a hurry, and a few diners have found set-menu and walk-in pricing a little unclear.

Good to know

Reservations are essential and should be made in advance — this is a tiny operation, not a walk-in. Where possible, trust the chef's recommendations for the day's specials, which depend on the freshest ingredients available. Specific show-stoppers like paella or a steak are best pre-ordered when you book; paella in particular needs notice ahead of your visit.

Diners single out the salt-crusted dorada, tender octopus, dry-aged T-bone and rib-eye, and the homemade churros for dessert. Confirm current opening hours and pre-order options directly with the restaurant before you go.
