  • Lithuania's first Nepalese restaurant, also serving authentic Indian dishes.

  • Cosy, calm, genuinely authentic atmosphere with a good range of vegan and vegetarian options.
  • Highly praised daily lunch specials (dienos pietūs).

Nepalese and Indian flavours in the New Town

Mažoji Himalaja is a much-loved spot for Nepalese and Indian cooking, with the distinction of being the first Nepali restaurant in Lithuania. It sits at Vingrių g. 25a, on the western edge of the centre near the New Town, in a cosy, calm room that diners describe as warm and genuinely authentic. The food earns its reputation on flavour and value alike: large, well-spiced portions at reasonable prices, designed to be shared.

The menu spans classic dishes from Nepal and India — momos (dumplings), tandoori, aromatic curries like butter chicken and chicken tikka masala, lamb dishes such as bhutuwa and masala, naan breads and samosas. You can pick your preferred spice level, and there's a good selection of vegan and vegetarian options, which makes it an easy choice for mixed groups.

Good to know

The space is small, so reservations are recommended, especially in the evenings. Service can be slower and less consistent during busy times, and parking nearby is often difficult — both worth bearing in mind if you're tight on time or arriving by car. The daily lunch specials (dienos pietūs) are a standout for good-value midday eating.

Generous portions mean dishes are easy to share, and the spice level is adjustable to taste. As with any small kitchen, confirm current opening hours before visiting.
