The short version
  • Elegant, Michelin Guide-listed dining in the Grand Hotel Vilnius, with views over Cathedral Square.
  • A creative, chef-driven kitchen led by head chef Donatas Šatkauskas.
  • A weekend brunch — buffet and often live music — that diners single out as a highlight.
  • A good-value lunch menu and an extensive wine and champagne list.

Cathedral Square views in a landmark building

Telegrafas occupies a grand position at Universiteto g. 14, inside the Grand Hotel Vilnius and overlooking Cathedral Square at the top of the Old Town. The building — once the city's telegraph office, which gives the restaurant its name — is a handsome turn-of-the-century landmark, and the dining room is elegant and cosy without feeling stuffy. It is the kind of room you book for an occasion, then linger in for the view.

The kitchen is led by head chef Donatas Šatkauskas, who describes his role almost like a director's — a constant search for flavour and fragrance. Dishes are beautifully presented and built around high-quality, often local ingredients, with a tasting menu (book ahead) for the full experience and a lunch menu that offers good value for cooking of this level. The restaurant is listed in the Michelin Guide.

The weekend brunch — and good to know

The weekend brunch is the talking point: an unlimited buffet, often with live music, that diners rate as a highlight of a visit. Service is a frequent point of praise — professional and attentive — though a few reviewers note the occasional inconsistency, so it is worth booking ahead, especially for a table with a view. Brunch, tasting-menu and breakfast arrangements change with the season, so check current days, times and pricing with the restaurant or hotel before you plan around them.

Best for
a special-occasion dinner, the weekend brunch, or a good-value lunch.
  • Tasting menu may need booking a day ahead; reserve for a window table.
  • Confirm current brunch days, times and pricing with the venue before visiting.
