The short version

  • Especially atmospheric in the evening, when it is illuminated
  • Runs seasonally — roughly April to October — and pauses for winter
  • Free to watch, with shows on a regular timed schedule

Seeing the musical fountain

The musical fountain is the charming centrepiece of Bernardine Garden, set among the restored 19th-century landscaping just off Maironio Street in the Old Town. Through the warmer months its jets are choreographed to music on a regular timed cycle, and after dark it is lit up — the most popular time to see it, when the water, light and the surrounding garden come together for an easy, free bit of evening theatre.

The fountain operates seasonally, roughly from April to October, and is switched off for the winter; in the shoulder months shows can be a little less reliable, so treat exact timings as a bonus rather than a fixture. Reported schedules have it running on a frequent cycle through the evenings in summer, with broader daytime hours at weekends and holidays — but always check current times locally, as they shift year to year with the weather.

  • Location: central Bernardine Garden, near Maironio g. 12, Vilnius Old Town
  • Season: approximately April–October; not operating in winter
  • Free to watch; best after dark when the fountain is illuminated
  • Shows run on a frequent timed cycle — confirm current hours locally
