Markučiai Manor Museum

Markučiai Manor Museum is a cosy, atmospheric house museum on the historic Markučiai estate, southeast of the Old Town at Subačiaus g. 124. The main residence is a rare and well-preserved example of 19th-century wooden architecture, and it was once the home of Alexander Pushkin's son, Grigory, and his wife, Varvara. Inside, six authentically furnished rooms recreate the late-19th-century atmosphere, some featuring original furniture decorated with the Pushkin family crest and monograms — a genuine glimpse into the era. Today it operates as a branch of the Vilnius City Museum.

Beyond the house, the estate's expansive 18-hectare park is reason enough to come: old trees, ponds, walking paths, the historic St Barbara's (St Varvara's) Chapel and a small family graveyard make for a peaceful wander. The museum is reachable on foot, by bike or by bus (routes 10 and 13, 'Markučiai' stop). Visitors have noted that admission is cash-only, and opening hours run on a part-week schedule, so check current times and prices before visiting.
