What to expect

The White Bridge (Baltasis tiltas) is a pedestrian bridge over the Neris that has become one of the most relaxed, democratic gathering spots in Vilnius. Crossing from the centre toward the Šnipiškės side, it serves up sweeping panoramic views of the river, the glassy New City Centre skyline and glimpses of the Old Town beyond — a favourite backdrop for an evening walk, a picnic on the grassy banks, or simply watching the city go by.

The riverbank around the bridge is built for free, casual recreation. You will find a skate park, basketball and volleyball courts and plenty of open space, which makes it popular with locals, families and skaters alike. The area doubles as a venue for city events — concerts, open-air gatherings and spectacular laser shows — and there is a food hall and cafés nearby for a drink or a bite, so it is an easy place to spend an afternoon or a warm summer evening.

  • Address: Upės g., 09308 Vilnius (over the Neris river)
  • Free facilities: skate park, basketball and volleyball courts
  • Great for: river views, picnics, photos, families and city events
  • Food halls and cafés nearby on the New City Centre side

Visiting tips

The White Bridge is an easy walk or short ride from the centre, near the modern high-rise district, and it is at its best on a clear evening when the skyline lights up over the water. It is free and open around the clock; bring a picnic or grab something from the nearby food hall, and check the city's events calendar in summer for concerts and laser shows by the river.
