The short version
  • Authentic, flavourful plov — often called the best in the city.
  • A simple, focused halal menu built around one signature dish done well.
  • Fast, friendly service in a no-frills setting near Kalvarijų Market.
  • Tasty sides: warming soups and fermented or pickled vegetables.

Plov done properly

OSH halal is a small, no-frills Uzbek kitchen at Kalvarijų g. 22, just north of the river near Kalvarijų Market. The name is the Uzbek word for plov, and that is exactly the point: this is a family sharing the flavours of Uzbekistan, cooking fresh, authentic plov with halal meat from recipes handed down through generations. Diners — including those who know the dish from Tashkent — single it out as some of the most authentic plov in Vilnius.

The menu is deliberately tight, centred on its signature rice pilaf with meat and vegetables and rounded out with a few well-judged extras: a frequently recommended soup (sriuba) to start, fermented and pickled vegetables on the side, and baklava to finish. Service is quick and pleasant, making it a reliable spot for a fast, satisfying halal meal rather than a lingering dinner.

Good to know

If you arrive hungry, consider the larger portion of plov, and pair it with the recommended sides — a soup and some fermented vegetables round the meal out nicely. A couple of practical notes regulars mention: parking nearby is limited, and some diners feel the meat portion can run a little small for the price. Hours and the menu can change, so check the venue's current channels before you go.
